PPP says Ramotar doesn’t plan to concede; GECOM to go ahead with declarations and swearing in

The People’s Progressive Party on Friday night indicated that President Donald Ramotar still does not intend to concede defeat in the 2015 elections, although he had telephone conversations with APNU+AFC Presidential Candidate David Granger early on Friday night.

APNU+AFC Co-Campaign Chair, Raphael Trotman told News Source that he is not sure of the nature of the conversation  between Ramotar and Trotman.

The PPP’s press statement came just moments after reports surfaced that the President was getting ready to no longer challenge the elections results and the Diplomatic community has been informed of such a decision.

The Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission, Dr. Steve Surujbally told News Source on Friday night that the Elections Commission is set to make its declarations of the results at 12noon on Saturday and the swearing in of Mr. Granger is expected to take place at 1pm. He said “these are all plans” and the plans will go ahead barring any developments.
