President promises better roads and infrastructure for East Coast community in LGE push

As local Government Elections approach, President Irfaan Ali is making the rounds in several communities across the country. On Wednesday, the President visited several communities on the lower East Coast including Plaisance, Vryheid Lust and Beterverwagting, with his plans to take development to those communities.

Some the issues raised by those communities included the state of community roads, drainage and irrigation, the state of community grounds, jobs for youths among others,

While urging the residents to make the “right decision” at the upcoming local elections, the President said the issues will be addressed.

“We are going to work for every single community, we are going to work in the interest of every single citizen of this country. I want you to make your own decision, you do your own thinking, you do your own analysis, I am not telling you listen to one way or the other, I want you to think for yourselves and make your own decision,” the President said.

Many of the areas visited by the President were traditionally won by the APNU.

The PPP is looking to take control in those communities.

The President told the residents that they should not allow themselves to be intimidated by noises in their communities.

“Nobody owns anything in this place, nobody owns anyone or any community, you have to make the right decision, I am here to work with you and to work with you everyday for the development of your community,” the President said.

And while the President promised that contracts for works in the areas will be awarded soon, he said those works will be executed by residents of the various communities.
