At a Government outreach in Region 10 today, President Irfaan Ali promised to address several issues facing the Region, with water supply, electricity and housing issues topping the list.

Addressing residents in Coomacka, the President said the Government has already pumped billions of dollars into the Region to address a number of challenges, and to improve the quality of life for residents. He agreed that much more could still be done.

“There are problems, we still have to complete the regularization, we have started the process but the process is ongoing and yes we have finished about 2km of the road and you could be assured that the next 2km would be completed before the end of this year that will take you to New England, you don’t have to push the door down for that,” the President said.

President Ali acknowledged the water woes facing the communities across Region 10 and said GWI has made several attempts to address the situation but those attempts were unsuccessful because of the poor water quality from the bore holes.

“Recently, they have had great success at Old England and although it will now cost a lot more because we would now have to build one and a half Kilometres of transmission to get back here from there, I said to GWI it is non-negotiable, let us get the well done and build the transmission and bring it here,” the President promised.

The President reiterated that his Government is pursing housing development in several areas in the Region, explaining that lands are being identified to ensure that every applicant in the system is allocated a house lot.

Similarly, he acknowledged the recent spate of blackouts that have gripped the region and said that measures have already been put in place to ensure greater power generation.

But despite those challenges, the President said great success has been recorded in region especially in the areas of education and health.

“In 2026, just this year so far, at the Linden Hospital complex we had 206,974 patient visits, 26, 405 admissions, 5221 surgeries, 5,711 deliveries, 12,969 x-rays, 6,937 ultrasounds and 57000 lab tests completed right there. These people that come to try to sow division and hate they don’t say anything about this, it’s an injustice to our health workers,” the President said.

The President said every commitment his made in his party’s manifesto for the region will be fulfilled.
