Returning Officer for Region 4 falls ill during the processing of results

With Region Four already lagging behind with the declaration of results from Monday’s elections, the declaration may further be delayed.

The Returning Officer for Region Four Clairmont Mingo was rushed to the hospital this morning after complaining of feeling unwell during the processing of information from the statements of polls.

The Guyana Elections Commission has indicated that it will offer more information as that information becomes available.

Last evening, the same Returning Officer brought the process to an end at around 9 pm claiming that he was tired.

The Returning Officer is tasked with gathering the statements of polls from the Region and processing that information so a declaration could be made and the information could be forwarded to the GECOM headquarters.

Region Four has the largest number of voters and the most polling stations.
