Seven more persons die from COVID-19; New cases continue to surge

The Ministry of Health on Saturday announced that seven more persons have died from Coronavirus in Guyana and all seven were unvaccinated.

In recent days, the Ministry of Health began publishing the vaccination status of those who have passed away.

The recent deaths push the death toll in the country from the pandemic to 713 with 88 of those deaths occurring within the past 18 days.

The country now has a total of 3,622 active cases with 3,452 of those persons recovering at home while the remainder is hospitalized.

In the past several weeks, Guyana has been seeing a surge in new COVID-19 cases with no measure being implemented to curb the increase and spread.

In its first 18 days, September 2021 became the month with the highest number of new COVID-19 cases and the greatest spread, eclipsing May 2021 which held the record.
