While Guyana has recorded no new cases of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, six more recoveries have been recorded, taking the total number of recoveries up to 92.
The announcement was made today by the Director for Primary Health Care, Dr. Ertensia Hamilton. She said 22 tests were done in the past 24 hours and no new case was recorded.
“To date, the total number of persons tested is 1, 876 with the number of negative cases being 1720. Currently, ninety-two (92) persons have recovered, fifty-two (52) active cases are in institutional isolation, one (1) patient is in the COVID ICU and six (6) persons are in institutional quarantine”, Dr. Hamilton revealed.
Dr. Hamilton also encouraged citizens to pay attention to the health protocols they should employ to guard themselves against the virus.
“Our spotlight remains on the Region of the Americas. We continue to witness an increase in new cases as well as in the number of deaths. My fellow Guyanese, you are cognizant of the contributory factors that lead to a flattening of the curve – Physical distancing, Cough and sneeze etiquette, handwashing and most importantly staying at home. I encourage you to keep spreading this message in your communities so that we can arrest the spread of COVID-19 and begin to reshape our lives with some measure of normalcy”
The Public Health Ministry continues to encourage citizens to make use of its hotline numbers if they believe they have symptoms of the coronavirus. Mobile testing units have also been dispatched to various parts of the country for on-site testing.
