Three persons including a teenager and a young child were killed on Wednesday night at Phillipia on the Corentyne Coast when they were all hit down by a speeding driver.
According to a resident of the area, Sheralyn Pestano, the speeding car first hit down a young man and attempted to drive away from the scene when he slammed into a group of children standing at the roadside. The driver reportedly sped away from that second accident scene and hit down a young man believed to be in his late teens in the nearby village.
Two of the persons died on the spot. The third person died while being transported to the hospital. Police investigators are on the scene. It is unclear whether the driver has been apprehended. The accident took place just after 7pm. Details are emerging.
