As the investigations continue into the deadly pirate attack in neighbouring Suriname which left fifteen Guyanese fishermen dead, a Guyanese teenager was today charged in connection with one of the murders.

He was not required to enter a plea to the capital offence of murder.

The Court heard that between the 27th April and 3rd May, while being out at sea, he murdered Telinaught Mohabir during an attack on the man’s fishing vessel.

The case has been transferred to the Springlands Magistrates’ Court as the youth was remanded to jail. He will make his next Court appearance on the 15th of this month.

The accused arrived under heavy Police guard at the Court today and was hurried into the Courthouse. He is being investigated in connection with other murders related to the same pirate attacks.
