Three persons who were found in a Prashad Nagar home last week with more than two pounds of cocaine were charged and remanded to jail today.
63-year-old Lena Narine, 54-year-old Sherman Edmonson and 49-year-old Earl Branch appeared before City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs this mornng and pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit reported that the three accused were held during an operation at the Prashad Nagar house where Narine and Edmonson live.
The $1.1 million worth of cocaine was discovered in small parcels in the house and the three were immediately arrested and told of the offence.
After listening to a summary of the case, the Magistrate refused bail and remanded the three accused to prison until the 13th February when the matter will be called again.
This is not the first time that Narine has found herself in the centre of drug trafficking allegations.
Just over a year ago, she was arrested and charged during a CANU drug operation that netted more than $12 million worth of cocaine. That case is still before the Courts.
