Town Clerk and family robbed at gunpoint during early morning home invasion

Police investigators are probing an early morning robbery at the home of City Town Clerk Royston King.

It was just after 2:00am today when the armed bandits invaded the home of King and made off with an undisclosed sum of cash.

King, in a telephone interview with News Source, said the men were unmasked and entered his South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown home by removing a window on the lower flat of the premises, which is currently under construction.

He said the unmasked bandits came face to face with his 15- year-old daughter who was studying at the time and the young woman alerted the other six occupants of the house.

King explained the robbery lasted for some 15 to 20 minutes during which time the men ransacked the house and demanded cash.

He said a shot was also fired at one of his sons but luckily it missed him. No other occupant was harmed.

“These men were not masked, one of them was armed and the one that I saw was pretty young and of mixed race,” King told News Source.

He said his family is traumatized from the incident.

The police were immediately alerted and their response was fair, according to the Town Clerk.

Ranks from the City Constabulary also responded upon learning of King’s encounter.

A police investigation has been launched. There are reports that there may have already been two arrests as the probe continues.
