A construction truck and another piece of construction equipment were set ablaze this afternoon in the East Coast Demerara community of Vigilance and several other fires were reported in the community after the Police reportedly carried out a search of a house and arrested two relatives of US sanctioned villager, Mark Cromwell aka “Demon”.

Cromwell was reportedly not home at the time of the search and the reported arrests and is believed to be out of the country.

Persons in the community also reported hearing multiple gunshots in the village as others were seen setting fire to debris on the roadways inside the village.

According to reports, just after 4 o’clock this afternoon, two masked men on a motorcycle were seen attacking a road construction crew and setting fire to some of their equipment. Moments later gunshots were heard and other fires were reported later this afternoon in other parts of the village.

The Guyana Police Force is tight-lipped on the issue.
