32-year-old, Corporate Secretary, Towanna Clark was today charged with causing the death of Police Constable Carl Roach by dangerous driving.
The woman appeared before the Chief Magistrate and denied the charge.
The Prosecutor told the Court that just around 12:30 on Monday morning while driving her motor car along Brickdam, the accused slammed into the Police officer who was off duty and riding his motorcycle in the opposite direction.
The young policeman was pitched onto the roadway and was pronounced dead on the spot.
The Prosecutor said the woman drove in a dangerous manner and never slowed down or stopped as she negotiated a turn to a nearby street.
After listening to the details of the case, the Magistrate granted the woman bail in the sum of $700,000 and ordered that she returns to Court in the new month for the start of the trial.
