Woman wanted in cocaine in achar case

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit on Tuesday issued a Wanted Bulletin for shop keeper, Dawn Roberts of Georgetown. According to the wanted bulletin, the woman is wanted for questioning in connection with a cocaine bust at the Cheddi Jagan Airport last Saturday. She operates a shop at North Road, Bourda.

News Source understands that the woman was named by the 78-year-old man who was charged on Monday for trafficking narcotics after over 20 pounds of cocaine was found in his suitcase, concealed in packages of achar.

The elderly American man reportedly told investigators that he was befriended by the shop keeper and she was the one who asked him to take the achar to the United States for her and provided him with the packages. His Attorney told the court on Monday that the man was unaware of the contents of the packages of achar.

CANU is asking anyone who may have information on the whereabouts  of Dawn Roberts to contact CANU at telephone number 227-3507.
