The nude body of a woman was found on Wednesday midday on the rocks at the seawalls on the East Coast of Demerara in the Turkeyen area.
The woman has not been identified but she appeared to have been in her early 30’s. Police investigators rushed down to the scene after being contacted and hurriedly cordoned off the area.
The body was spotted by passersby who raised an alarm and contacted law enforcement. News Source understands that investigators were looking to see if the woman may be linked to any missing person’s report. It is suspected that she may have been sexually assaulted.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the nearest police station. Investigations are ongoing.
Over the weekend, the semi nude body of a man was found on the seawalls but closer to Georgetown. A post mortem examination determined that the man died from forced drowning. Several marks of violence were found around his neck and to his face. Investigations into that incident are also ongoing.
