Small Businesses that are owned by women will be placed under the spotlight as local designer and entrepreneur Sonia Noel and her organization host the ‘Women in Business Expo’ at the end of this month.
The exhibition is an annual event to highlight small businesses owned by women.
It seeks to build a network of opportunities for them and also raise awareness about their products and services.
Over fifty small businesses owned by women have already registered for the event which will be hosted on the 30th and 31st March at the Pegasus hotel.
At a launch event this morning, organizer Sonia Noel said this year’s event will not just focus on the business side, but will also showcase the passion and purpose of many of those involved.
“We are talking about not only to be inspired, but we are also talking about passion and purpose and passion and purpose are definitely linked because when you feel as if you are exhausted because you love what you do, your passion fuels that, and you kind of get that energy”
Additionally, Ms. Noel stated that small and micro businesses in Guyana and around the world have been known to be the ones most affected by COVID-19 and these businesses include shops, creative businesses, and others.
She said small businesses need to be supported more.
“The kind of support that we need, whether it’s a painting or an earring or a soup, or whatever it is there is quite a variety and we need the Guyanese public to do that on the 30th and 31st. if you are working take your lunch break and come down”.
This year’s event will also see the Sonia Noel Foundation launching an art event by the David Rose School.
