The international match is 15th May against Guyana’s national “A” squad, better known as the Jaguars. Guyana is currently preparing for Caribbean Cup group action against Curaçao and US Virgin Islands in early June, which ultimately serves as part of their qualification route for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Canada camp serves as an important step in accumulating experience for some of the nation’s young, exceptional players, all with an eye towards Canada’s Men’s National Team and the road to Russia 2018 and beyond. The squad of selected players will be announced in early May.

Just last month, Canada Soccer’s Men’s EXCEL Program produced a positive experience through an eight-day camp in Doncaster, England, with a squad of players born 1996 or later. The camp featured two international tests against England, the latter a 2:1 win for Canada’s first-ever victory against an England’s men’s team.

Canada Soccer’s Men’s EXCEL Program channels our nation’s exceptional players into the best soccer environments. The Canada Soccer Pathway works in collaboration with our provincial and territory partners as well as the professional clubs and academies. For Canada’s elite players, the program emphasizes player development on the pathway to representing Canada’s Men’s National Team in international soccer.
