A First Avenue, Bartica Woman made her first appearance before a City Magistrate today and was charged for the offense of attempted murder over the stabbing of a man. The two reportedly were involved in an argument that quickly escalated into a fight.
31-year-old, Venessa Creighton stood before the Magistrate with few expressions and the Court heard that on Mashramani Day, she repeatedly stabbed Cecil Hope with intent to commit murder.
She was also charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding the same man.
The Police Prosecutor objected to bail due to that the fact that the victim is still hospitalized, with several stab wounds.
The Attorney representing the accused made an application for bail on the basis that the accused is said to be six weeks pregnant.
He also told the Court that it was the woman who first came under attack by the man and retaliated.
The Attorney claimed that the woman was chocked and hit across the body by the man.
The request for bail was however denied and the accused was ordered to return to court on March 8th.
