Two security guards attached to a private company are nursing gunshot wounds to their feet after they were reportedly shot by one of two bandits who attempted to carry out a robbery at the Movie Towne construction site on the East Coast of Demerara.

According to a police report, the two security guards, 50-year-old Stanley Brown and 53-year-old, David Barrow, were at the Pattensen worksite around 4 o’ clock on Thursday morning when two men confronted them.

The armed security guards allegedly opened fire on the men, but one of the bandits was armed with a gun and reportedly fired back, hitting Brown to his right foot and Barrow to his left foot, before running away from the scene.

Both security guards have been admitted to the hospital with their injuries. There are no reports of anything being missing from the construction site.

The construction of the multiplex cinema started last year and is in the early stages.
