A police report stated that the driver was proceeding along the roadway in the vicinity of Bee Hive, when he lost control of the car and slammed into two utlity poles before ending up in a nearby trench.

A mid-afternoon accident at Bee Hive on the East Coast of Demerara has claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman.

The woman, Keiola Thomas, was the passenger in motor car PWW 5851, being driven by a Police constable, when tragedy struck.

A police report stated that the driver was proceeding along the roadway in the vicinity of Bee Hive, when he lost control of the car and slammed into two utlity poles before ending up in a nearby trench.

Both the driver and the passenger were pulled from the wreckage. They were taken to the Mahaicony hospital where Keiola Thomas was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver was released from the hospital after being treated for his injuries. However, he has been taken into custody for questioning by the Police.

A breathalyzer test was administered to the driver.  No trace of alcohol was detected in his system.
