Guyanese Critic charged and granted $100,000 bail on assault charge

Controversial social media talk show host, Mikhail Rodrigues, appeared in Court this morning and was slapped with a charge of causing grevious bodily harm.

He is accused of using his firearm to hit Berbice businessman, Brian Persaud, across the face in the Montra nightclub in Kitty on the 29th September.

Rodrigues has denied the assault allegations, but was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 when he appeared in Court this morning. He was handcuffed and removed from the Courtroom after his hearing, and had to remain in the prison holding facility until his bail was paid.

Businessman Brian Persaud filed a police report three weeks ago detailing the incident. He said he was with relatives in the nightclub and was standing at the bar, when he saw the accused whipping out a gun and hitting him across the face and head, causing him serious injuries.

Rodrigues has claimed that he had been attacked by someone in the club, but it later appeared as though he might have retaliated against the wrong person.
