Ten of Region 10’s top academic achievers at the 2025 National Grade Six Assessment examinations were honoured recently at a special ceremony hosted by Linden Fund USA (LFU) Guyana Inc. in collaboration with Elite Kayaking & Nature Tours.
The annual initiative was launched in 2021, as part of LFU’s focus on youth development and education.
The aim is to recognize and reward the academic excellence and achievements of Region 10 students.
This year’s events highlighted that three of the Region’s top students also won the 2024 ANSA McAL Spelling Bee competition.
Mayor of Linden, Sharma Solomon praised the local organisations for their commitment to youth development and highlighted the importance of community driven initiatives.
“Government will play their part, and where institutions such as the municipality will do what they can, it is also important to have the community find means through institutions like Linden Fund and Elite Kayaking, to get involved,” he said.

Despite not meeting the goal of placing among the top 10 students in the country, significant improvements were noted by the region.
Regional Educational Officer, Nicola Matthews encouraged parents to support their children fully, even if they were not placed at some of the top schools.
“So that is the message we are preaching to parents, even though your child was not placed at QC or MHS, you can work with your child, and your child can be successful,” she stated.
She expressed the need for determination to meet the region’s goals in the future and called on teachers, parents and the wider community to work together in support of every child’s potential.
Following the ceremony students were treated to an all expense paid Kayaking Day Tour at Kara Kara, Linden.
Additionally, the students went on an educational tour to visit some of the Region’s natural gems, which included the Blue lake. (Jade Bradford)
