The Management of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport is celebrating the announcement of the airport retaining its position as the No. 1 airport in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the Airport Service Quality survey results.
The survey was administered by Airports Council International (ACI), with the Airport Service Quality programme being a leading global benchmark for measuring passenger satisfaction with airport services.
“This recognition reflects passenger feedback across key service indicators, including the overall travel experience, check-in and security processing, facility cleanliness, thermal comfort, signage, and the helpfulness and courtesy of frontline personnel,” the CJIA explained in a statement.
Commenting on the achievement, CJIA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ramesh Ghir, described the airport’s continued regional ranking as a significant milestone for the entire airport community.
He credited the achievement to the dedication of frontline staff, security personnel, immigration officers and airline partners.

The release also quoted Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, as saying that the recognition reflects the Government’s continued investment in aviation infrastructure and its commitment to strengthening Guyana’s position as a regional aviation hub.
The airport management says the achievement comes as it continues to advance infrastructure improvements to accommodate growing international passenger volumes.
“These developments include rehabilitation of the runways and taxiways; expanded terminal capacity; modernised boarding bridges and automated baggage systems; and airfield upgrades, including improvements to security infrastructure,” the CJIA explained.
According to its modernization efforts, the CJIA will see further enhancements to commercial spaces and executive lounges, together with developments in the surrounding hospitality sector.
