171 lives lost on country’s roadways since 1st January

The Guyana Police Force has revealed that since the start of the year, a total of 171 persons have lost their lives on Guyana’s roadways in traffic accidents and incidents.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Police Force, the death toll has been recorded from more than 145 road accidents and incidents.

Over this past weekend, two women became the country’s latest road accident victims after they were hit down by speeding drivers in two separate accidents.

The Guyana Police Force has been stepping up its monitoring of the country’s roadways and has even been carrying out several lecture sessions with drivers to inform and educate them more on the use of the roads.

Still, the Force continues to see a high volume of cases that involve speeding and drunk driving, which are the two leading causes for road accidents in Guyana.
