19-year-old handyman shot dead by 20-year-old security guard at auto dealership

A 20-year-old security guard attached to the Cerberus Security company is in custody following the shooting death of a 19-year-old handyman attached to a Lusignan Auto Sales company on Thursday.

The dead handyman has been identified as Jared Jaganand.

According to a Police statement, the security guard was on duty at the auto dealership, while the handyman who works at the same company was sitting in a chair nearby, when a loud explosion was heard by other workers.

On investigation, the workers found the handyman lying on the ground bleeding and were informed by the security guard that the handyman had been shot.

It is suspected that the guard accidentally fired off the gun, hitting the 19-year-old handyman to his upper left leg.

The teen was rushed to a private hospital, where he died while being treated. The security guard has since been taken into custody as an investigation has been launched.

The Police said surveillance video recordings of the incident are being examined.
