The bodies of two men were found this morning in the Essequibo river, hours after they were reported missing.

According to the Police, a missing person’s report was filed on Monday night for the two men after they did not return to their home.

The Police said that around 11 o’ clock this morning, the body of Vijai Lallmoni was found floating face down about 20 feet from the western shore of the Essequibo river near to Agatash village.

The body of the other man, Solendra Bookmohan, was found about 300 feet from where the first body was located.

A full investigation has been launched. The two men reportedly worked at St. Mary’s Quarry in the Essequibo and left the area to travel to Bartica for shopping. The boat they were traveling in was discovered close to their bodies, with the engine in idle mode.
