On Saturday, a 37-year-old woman who was out shopping with her family in the Zeeburg area died after she was mowed down by a speeding mini-bus when its driver lost control.

With the Christmas holiday shopping season in full swing, the Guyana Police Force is once again urging drivers to be cautious on the roadways and stop the speeding.

On Saturday, a 37-year-old woman who was out shopping with her family in the Zeeburg area died after she was mowed down by a speeding mini-bus when its driver lost control.

The woman Gaitre Sewsankar was pinned by the bus, which ended up off the roadway, slamming into a nearby store.

The bus driver claimed that he lost control after attempting to avoid a collision with a car that had made a sudden turn into frot of him.

A number of other persons were also injured in the accident and the driver remains in custody as investigations have been launched.
