Police investigators in Region Seven are probing the brutal killing of a 34-year-old gold miner from Grove, East Bank Demerara. The dead man has been identified as Marlon Carter.
His lifeless and mutilated body was discovered on Saturday afternoon on the bank of the river at Quartzstone landing.
The Police said the body bore several deadly injuries including an almost severed ankle, burns to the chest, lacerations to the head above the left ear, and lacerations to the forehead and left lower arm.
The Police have identified a suspect, who according to investigators was involved in a confrontation with the victim and that led to the murder.
The brother of the suspect who was wanted by the Police in a separate case has since been arrested while the main suspect in the murder of the miner is on the run.
