22-year-old Nicholas Whyte of Shell Road, Kitty in Georgetown, was remanded to jail today after pleading not guilty to trafficking 52-pounds of marijuana.

The youth appeared in Court this morning before Senior Magistrate, Clive Nurse. During the appearance, the Prosecutor told the Court that the man was intercepted by a Police patrol on Saturday night while he was driving along Ramp Road in Ruimveldt.

It was explained to the Court that a search of the car being driven by Whyte, unearthed a large bag which contained 15 parcels of marijuana leaves, seeds and stems.

The 22-year-old was told of the drug trafficking offence and immediately taken into custody. He is now expected to make his second Court appearance on the 30th June, when the matter will continue.
