A 38-year-old man died tragically in a road accident on Sunday morning when he lost control of his car along the #36 village Public Road and slammed into a utility pole.
The impact of the collision folded the car around the pole. Police have identified the dead man as Troy Trevor Elias of Farm, Corentyne. The accident took place at around 5:45 on Sunday morning.
In a statement, the Police said the driver was not the owner of the car. A woman from the same community was listed as the owner.
There was one passenger in the car at the time of the crash. Both the driver and passenger were taken out of the mangled wreckage and rushed to the Skeldon hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead and the passenger was admitted with his injuries.
