Police Constable remanded on charges of possession of firearm with intent to injure

A Police Constable, who was caught on camera issuing threats and firing off a high powered weapon multiple time in a reckless manner while in a drunken state has been charged and remanded to jail.

Police Constable Daniel Henry, who worked in Regional Police Division One, appeared in Court on Thursday, where he faced the charge of possession of a firearm with the intent to injure.

Appearing before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Port Kaituma Magistrates’ Court via Zoom, Constable Henry was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge. The Magistrate denied him bail and remanded him to prison until the next Court date in January.

The video of the Constable in plain clothes waving around a high-powered weapon at a group of persons then repeatedly firing it, surfaced on social media earlier this week prompting a full Police investigation.

The Constable was placed under close arrest when the investigation started and upon its completion, it was recommended that he face charges.
