The main suspect in the murder of Durban Street businessman, Shimron Adams, has confessed to the crime, according to the Police.

Highly placed Police sources today told News Source that Albouystown resident, Andrew Ridley during interrogation by the Police admitted to the murder of Shimron Adams.

Investigators also recovered the murder weapon at the man’s house and ballistics tests have since confirmed that it was the weapon used to shoot Shimron Adams dead during the course of a robbery.

The main suspect could find himself in Court early in the new week. His alleged accomplice, Akelow Marshall is also expected to face charges.

Marshall was arrested in Berbice at Springlands, as he was attempting to make his way over to neighbouring Suriname.

The main suspect, Andrew Ridley is well known to law enforcement and has been fingered in a number of previous robbery cases.

He was recently named as a suspect in another murder case.

The two were named as suspects based on CCTV footage of the incident and from cameras that caught their getaway on a motorcycle.

The 41-year-old businessman was shot dead as he was closing up his store at the corner of Durban and Chapel Streets on Monday night.

After shooting the businessman, the bandits robbed him of his jewellery and money and escaped from the scene.

Adams was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Hospital.
