She dreams of one day seeing her name and music on the Billboard charts. Now with the launch of her first album, Guyanese songbird Lisa Punch believes she is closer to realising that dream.
“The Evolution of Lisa Punch” is the début album released last week by the former Guyana Star winner who believes that her dreams are now being realised. Lisa is already talking about launching a second album in September in time for her birthday but the first album is the one that she intends to hold closest to her heart.
Singing has always been a first love of Lisa and she admits that when she started singing at the age of five it was just for fun but then her voice evolved and her personality followed suit.
The new album has 8 tracks including the emotional “One Last Time” which brings tears to the eyes of the young singer every time she sits down to talk about it. Lisa said the single “One Last Time” is dedicated to her young cousin who passed away a few years ago.
“He was my biggest supporter and though he was just 14 years old, he recognised my talent when I was young and promised that he would be the first to buy my album whenever it comes out. He did not live to see me launch this new album and that tears me apart every single day, but I still remember him and I will dedicate this album to him”, she said.
Most of the songs were produced by young Guyanese producer Ken Taylor who Lisa credits with always showing the foresight and for always believing in her work and her dreams also.
At a simple launching ceremony at the Upscale Restaurant, her friends Miss Guyana Ruqayyah Boyer and Singer Jackie Handover celebrated the album launch while reflecting on their friendship and the close bond they all have through music and the arts.
The new album “The Evolution of Lisa Punch is available at Matts Record Bar in Georgetown.
