A 17-year-old boy from Patentia on the West Bank of Demerara was attacked and stabbed to death, allegedly by two other teens over an old grievance among them.
Police have identified the dead teen as Aaron Bess. The two teenage suspects are from the same Patentia community. One of them, a 17-year-old, has already been arrested, while the other suspect, who is 16-years-old is still to be located.
According to a Police report, Aaron Bess was on his way to a shop in the community, when the two suspects started to pelt bottles at him.
As the teenager continued on his way to the shop, the Police report said one of the teens attacked and lashed him with a piece of steel, while the other teen who was armed with a knife attacked the youth and stabbed him.
The young man fell to the ground as the suspects escaped from the area.
Persons in the area rushed the injured teen to the West Demerara Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. The Police said stab wounds were discovered on his body in the area of his abdomen, the left side of his chest and the right side of his neck.
A post-mortem examination is to be carried out on the body.
The Police said the 17-year-old suspect who was arrested, has been providing information to the Police, while the search is ongoing for his younger accomplice.
