Investigators from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit have discovered 127 pounds of marijuana in their latest drug eradication operation in the Corentyne area.

The bust took place on Saturday at Crabwood Creek, Corentyne.   According to CANU, several large parcels of marijuana were found hidden in a clump of bushes at the seaside.

No one was found in the area, but the large parcels of marijuana were taken to the CANU Skeldon office, where it was weighed.   CANU said the marijuana carries a street value of $17 million.

The drug enforcement agency said investigations are ongoing.

In the first six months of this year, CANU agents have seized more than 1500 pounds of marijuana and more than 30 pounds of cocaine.
