3600 to graduate from University of Guyana in November

The University of Guyana today announced that it is set to graduate its largest batch of students in its history next month with almost 3,600 persons graduating with Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor’s and Masters Degree and Doctoral Degrees.

The three day graduation exercise will be held from November 20-22.

In a release today, University explained that it will host six ceremonies from November 20–22 in Georgetown and one in Berbice on December 6 to celebrate the growing number of graduates being added to the national, regional, and international workforce, in keeping with its aspirational goal of achieving “One Graduate per Household.”

The ceremonies will be blended, with the majority of graduates attending in person and the remainder participating virtually according to their preference.

“It is noteworthy that this year’s graduation will include students completing several new academic programmes for the first time. These include the Certificate in Dual Language/Multilingual Practice in Education (Faculty of Education and Humanities), the Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma and Grief Resilience (Institute of Human Resiliency, Strategic Security and the Future), and the MSc in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing (Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences),” UG said in a statement.

The University said it has produced over 70,000 graduates in its 62-year history, many of whom have gone on to serve with distinction at the highest levels in both the private and public sectors, nationally and internationally.

The Institutions noted that its forward-thinking Blueprint 2040 is currently setting the course for the University’s future design and institutional response to the changing needs of Guyana, the region and the world. It is entering the 2nd of its four phases.  UG is currently celebrating its 62nd anniversary with a continued focus on becoming the leading teaching and research University in Guyana
