Over 3500 to graduate from UG in November

More than 3500 students from over 50 disciplines are expected to walk the graduation stage when the University of Guyana (UG) hosts its 58th convocation ceremony in the month of November.

The graduation ceremonies will be hosted over several days between the 7th to the 23rd November.

On Thursday November 7, a ceremony will be held for graduates from the Faculties of Engineering and Technology, Agriculture and Forestry and Earth and Environmental Sciences.

On the evening of that same date, a graduating ceremony will be hosted for Faculty of Natural Sciences.

On the 8th November,  those from the College of Medical Sciences, College of Behavioral Sciences and Research, Institute for Human Resiliency Strategic Security and the Future, Institute for Distance and Continuing Education, along with the School for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation will walk the stage.

On the 9th November, graduating students from the Faculty of Education and Humanities and the Faculty of Social Science will grace the stage.

The University’s Berbice campus will host its graduation ceremony on Sunday, November 17th, while the Institute for Distance and Continuing Education will host its graduation on Saturday November 23, 2024.

This year, several new academic programmes will see graduates for the first time.

These include disciplines such as: Master of Philosophy Biodiversity, Pharmacy Technician Diploma, Certificate in Geographic Information, Systems, Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) (Environmental Engineering), Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) (Food Safety), Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) (Occupational and Health and Safety) and Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) (Vector Control).

The University said this year will see its largest batch of graduates in its sixty-one-year history.

The University will also confer a number of Honorary Doctoral Degrees during these special graduation ceremonies.  

UG said it has produced more than 60,000 graduates in its 61 years of existence.
