Police in Region 10 are probing a fatal accident which occurred this morning along the Rockstone trail just after 10 o’ clock.
According to a report from the Police, the accident involved a motorcar that was being driven by a 25-year-old man from Herstelling on the East Bank of Demerara. The other occupant of the car was 54-year-old, Steve George from Sophia.
The 54-year-old man died in the accident.
The Police said initial investigations have revealed that the motor car was proceeding north along the western side of Rockstone trail at a fast rate, when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle flipped over several times before it eventually came to a stop.
The passenger suffered multiple injuries about his body and was rushed to the Linden Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the car, who escaped without any serious injury, was taken into custody for questioning, according to the Police.
Investigations are ongoing.
