The Ministry of Education has announced that all public schools will be closed on Monday, 12th November, to facilitate the hosting of Local Government Elections.
Schools will reopen their doors on the following day.
Several public schools have been identified as polling stations for the local government elections and in addition to that, several teachers across the country will be serving as election day officials for the Elections Commission.
The Guyana Elections Commission has already started to place “Polling Station” signs outside the various polling stations.
Although, public schools will be closed, local government elections day will not be a public holiday.
