Heavy gunfire littered the Friday night peace and quiet of the Sussex Street, Charlestown area as a well known resident was gunned down in execution style by motorcycle riding gunmen.
The incident occurred just before 10:00pm. The dead man has been identified as Gladston Taylor aka “Tuffy”.
He was shot 11 times to his body and was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Hospital.
The man was sitting in a chair just at the corner of Sussex and Adelaide Streets when the gunmen rode up and shot him multiple times. The two gunmen were not wearing any masks according to an eyewitness.
The eyewitness said he was sitting at the same corner and had just gone to the nearby shop when he heard the gunshots and saw his friend being gunned down.
“I just been and buy me f%$king coil, you know and I tell the man I going inside early tonight”, the man recounted. He explained that he hopes the police investigators will pay attention to another execution which took place in the same Sussex Street three days ago and the words that were uttered by persons related to that victim.
A young Guyana Defence Force rank was gunned down earlier this week and some of his friends threatened that there would have been retaliation.
Although it is not clear how tonight’s victim was linked to the earlier execution, investigators are treating the case as a revenge murder.
Family members of Taylor screamed uncontrollably as news echoed through the area that he had been declared dead.
News Source understands that two of Taylor’s son are currently behind bars on a murder charge.
