28-year-old New Amsterdam, Berbice resident, Joshua Rambarran, was dragged before the Court on Monday, where he was slapped with eight sexual offences and cyber crime charges.

Rambarran appeared before Magistrate Michelle Matthias at the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court, where he was charged with six(6) counts of using a computer system to obtain and transmit child pornography, committed on a child under age 14.

He also faces two charges of alleged child pornography and using a computer system to coerce, harass, intimidate, and humiliate a person.

According to Police statement, the man allegedly groomed and convinced teenagers to send explicit pictures and videos of themselves to a Snapchat account, and he later alleged uploaded those photos to another social media group.

Bail was denied, and the accused will make his next Court appearance in a few weeks.
