A police report on the incident said at around 7:30 on Sunday morning, Rampersaud confronted another man in the village over an incident that had taken place earlier the same morning in the village.

Better Hope man stabbed to death during row about another stabbing

A 31-year-old engineer from Better Hope on the East Coast. Of Demerara was stabbed to death on Sunday morning after lashing another man to the body during an argument.

The dead engineer has been identified as Neil Rampersaud. 

A police report on the incident said at around 7:30 on Sunday morning, Rampersaud confronted another man in the village over an incident that had taken place earlier the same morning in the village.

During the earlier incident, another villager, Mohan Panchu was stabbed and hospitalized. 

It was the 40-year-old suspect in the stabbing of Panchu that the engineer, Neil Rampersaud was confronting.

As he threatened to file a police complaint about the incident, he got into an argument with the suspect and reportedly lashed the suspect to the body with an object.  The suspect retaliated by attacking and stabbing Rampersaud in the chest.  He was rushed to a private hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

The suspect has since been arrested and is likely to face various charges over the murder and the earlier stabbing incident this week.
