The bodies of the pregnant woman and her fiancé who drowned on Sunday after being swept away by strong waves while swimming at Unity Beach have been recovered at sea.
The recovery was made this morning by members of a search party. News Source understands that family members have since been informed of the recovery of the bodies.
21-year-old Lyodisa Waldron and her fiancé, 29-year-old Andri Francis were swimming at Unity Beach when Waldron reportedly began drifting out to sea. After she called out to the fiancé, he rushed to her assistance, but never made it. They both vanished under the water as the waves became rough.
Family members who were also at the beach were left helpless as they could offer no assistance other than to seek the help of the Police.
The Police launched a search operation along with the GDF Coast Guard, but there was no sign of life. The searches continued until this morning when the recovery was made.
The young couple were expecting their first child together in August and were planning for that arrival. Family members will now plan the last rites for the couple.
The dead man’s mother told reporters that she had repeatedly warned her son against swimming at the Unity Beach after he told her that he was heading there along with his pregnant fiancé. The grieving mother said she was told not to worry, but was later greeted with the news of the tragedy.
