Moments after the Public Health Ministry confirmed that Guyana has recorded its 9th Coronavirus related death, it reported that the country has also recorded four new cases of the coronavirus.
With four new cases being recorded within the past 24 hours, it would mean that eight new cases have been recorded so far for this week already.
Public Health Minister Volda Lawrence in her daily update today revealed that a total of 22 persons have completely recovered from the coronavirus so far. There are now 51 active cases.
“Five hundred and seventy-nine (579) persons have been tested, of whom four hundred and ninety-seven (497) are negative. There are two (2) persons in our COVID-19 ICU, eighteen (18) in our institutional quarantine and fifty-one (51) in isolation”, Minister Lawrence revealed.
She also reported today that Campbellville, East Ruimveldt, Guyhoc Park, Lodge, Albouystown and Laing Avenue are the other areas in the city that are seen as hotspot for the Coronavirus. Yesterday, the Minister listed a number of communities in south and north Georgetown as areas where they have noticed the most cases of the virus coming from.
Georgetown is the epicenter for the coronavirus in Guyana.
