The hunt for the suspect in the Sunday night explosion at the Regent Street Mobil gas station has widened to Region Three as the Police Force has indicated that its investigators have found the clothes believed to have been worn by the suspect as he planted the suspected explosives at the gas station.
In a statement this morning, hours after the Police released an updated photograph of the suspect, the Police said it has obtained a positive identification of the main suspect and the clothing believed to have been worn by the man during the attack was found at a location in Region Three.
The Guyana Police Force has not released any name of the suspect, but in the updated photograph of the man, which was released this morning, he could be seen wearing a hat similar to the one later found by Police with a blue t-shirt and black pants at a Region Three location.
The main suspect was captured on CCTV footage placing a black bag close to cooking gas cylinders moments before the explosion that killed a six-year-old girl and injured her family members.
Surveillance video recordings also captured the man, said to be a spanish speaking foreign national, attempting earlier to place the bag near the fuel tanks, but being prevented from doing so by a staffer at the gas station.

In a statement on Monday night, the Guyana Police Force said investigators have made significant progress with the arrest of three individuals, including a Venezuelan national. The three, according to the Police, have been taken into custody and are assisting with the investigation.
The Police also explained that acting on intelligence and CCTV analysis, investigators conducted a coordinated operation that led to the interception of a silver motor car (PSS 7874) which was used to transport one of the suspects. The Police said the vehicle was located, leading to the arrest of the three persons who are now in custody.
The Police said information obtained from those arrested has provided key leads to investigators with the principal suspect remaining at large and being actively sought as the investigation continues.
A Wanted Bulletin was issued for the suspect, who is believed to be a Spanish speaking foreign national.
The Guyana Police Force is urging anyone who may have seen or interacted with the suspect or who may have information on his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call 911 immediately.
The Police said the scene of the explosion is still being assessed with damage being observed to the Mobil mini-mart, storage bond, and four fuel pumps, as well as to several nearby buildings – including the KFC outlet, adjoining commercial establishments and portions of the High Court – consistent with shockwave impact from the blast.

According to the Police, Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory have collected samples, including plastic and metal fragments which are being analysed to determine their origin and evidential value.
With the investigations ongoing, the police said every effort is being made to bring those responsible to justice and to safeguard the lives and property of all citizens.
The family of the dead girl continues to cry out for justice. The girl was with two of her young cousins, her grandmother and a older relative when the blast flung their car into the air before it came crashing back down.
The older cousin who was driving, was reversing the car to park near the same area where the suspect reportedly placed the bag earlier when the explosion occurred. The survivors of the blast remain hospitalised.
