A Corentyne man has succumbed to injuries he suffered when armed bandits invaded his home late Wednesday night.

According to the police, minutes before mid night on Wednesday, two men entered the home of 42- year-old Patrick Mohabir of Belvedere, Corentyne.

The bandits were armed with a firearm and cutlass and held Mohabir up along with his wife, 39-year-old Shabina Ahmad.

During the incident, Mohabir put up a resistance and was shot and chopped by the perpetrators who then escaped with two cell phones and a pair of shoes.

The injured man was taken to the Anamyah Memorial Hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention. Police investigations are ongoing.
