Cuban national found dead along roadway at Coldigen; Investigation launched

Police investigators have launched a probe into the death of a 53-year-old Cuban national, whose body was discovered this morning on the railway embankment at Coldingen on East Coast of Demerara.

The Cuban national has been identified as Wilbur Fonseca, who lived at Eccles on the East Bank of Demerara.

The police suspect that the man died sometime between Tuesday night and early this morning.

When News Source arrived at the scene this morning, the man’s body was already covered, as crime scene investigators cordoned off the area.

News Source understands that the body was found lying face down on the southern side of the Railway Embankment along the parapet.

Blood was reportedly seen on the man’s mouth. He was clad in a pair of long black track pants and a blue hoodie. A black haversack was seen next to his body, with driver’s license located about 5 feet away from the body and one side of his shoes located more than than 20 feet away.

A cellphone was found in the man’s pants pocket. A post-mortem examination is to be conducted to determine a cause of death.
