Police at Timehri are investigating the murder of a female taxi driver whose body was found early Sunday morning, dumped close to her car in a mining pit just off of the Linden Soesdyke Highway.
A young labourer who works in the area has since been taken into custody as the investigations continue and investigators are seeking the whereabouts of at least two other men who they believe may have information about the woman’s brutal murder.
The 31-year-old woman has been identified as Savitri Parma. She was last seen alive on Saturday afternoon working in the Timehri and Soesdyke areas. She lived at Soesdyke.
Her naked body was found with several marks of violence and police sources say from all appearances she may have been sexually assaulted before being murdered.
Investigations are ongoing.
