After listening to the presentations from both sides of the National Assembly in the Budget debate, Finance Minister, Winston Jordan, said the nation ought to take warning against a deliberate move by the opposition, People’s Progressive Party to falsify statistics to create confusion.
He provided several examples of the PPP providing incorrect statics during the budge debate.
“What we are seeing in this house is a pattern of falsifying statistics to create confusion and to leave in the minds of the public, of something that is not really happening”, Jordan said.
The Minister said simply adding together information about inflation appears like a task for the opposition.
He said he has the time to teach the opposition about statistics, since they need the help. Minister Jordan said the Opposition is involved in a pattern of misinformation and continues to provide cooked up numbers to the public, all in the name of soundbites.
“That is no mistake Mr. Speaker, it is being done deliberately because as you can see right through the range of speakers, it is a pattern to falsify statistics in this Honourable house. If it was a mistake, it would have been one, but it is a pattern.”
Jordan said his 2019 budget is a good budget and one that has something for every Guyanese. He called on citizens to do their own research and not be fooled by faulty stats being provided by an opposition that continues to operate like a “wounded lion”.
