Surinamese airline, Fly All Ways has been granted approval to operate non-stop flights between Georgetown and Havana, Cuba.

The scheduled service is set to begin next month and the airline will initially operate one flight per week, leaving Georgetown for Havana on Saturday morning and returning to Georgetown in the evening.

The Government of Cuba has granted full permission for the service. Guyana had previously granted permission.

During this week, Guyana’s Ambassador to Cuba, Halim Majeed, is expected to meet with the Cuban authorities, along with a representative of the airline who is presently in Cuba to assist in ironing out some remaining wrinkles.

Fly All Ways is said to be excited about the new service as it could lead to more business opportunities for both Guyana and Cuba.

The Inaugural Flight from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport to the Jose Marti International Airport is expected to take place on July 16, 2022.

The airline will be looking to land a cargo license to begin transporting cargo between the two countries.

Scores of Cubans travel to Guyana weekly since the US Embassy in Guyana serves as the visa services point for Cubans wishing to travel to the US.
