Four Immigration Officers test positive for COVID-19 at Passport Office

The Central Passport and Immigration Office is putting additional safety measures in place after four Immigration Officers based in the production department of the office tested positive for COVID-19.

The four officers who tested positive did not have interaction with members of the public at their job, so it is suspected that they might have contracted the virus outside of their workplace.

The four are currently in home isolation. Other Immigration Officers have since been tested for the virus.

A senior official in the Police Force told News Source that the operations of the office have not been affected.

It was also explained that the entire worksite has been sanitized and additional enforcement measures are being put in place to ensure members of the public visiting the passport office are properly sanitized and practice physical distancing.

The official made it clear that there are no cases at the airport and based on the tests carried out so far, it appears as though the infection was restricted to the one department in the Immigration Office.

Members of the Police Force and other frontline workers are expected to receive their COVID-19 vaccines soon.
